Think about an activity that you do, or a sporting activity you belong to and make a list of the rules that members need to follow.  For each rule, briefly explain why this rule has been put in place.

Rugby Union

The Rule is …..	Why this rule has been put in place…..
No High Tackle.	So no one gets hurt or injured.
No Forward Passes.	The game wouldn't be fair.
Don’t Wear Sharp Boots.	So the players doesn’t get cuts.
No Shepherding.	You can’t shepherd because the other player  that does not have the ball  will  get tackled.
No Knock Ons.	Then its the advantage to the other team and you will get pennelliaseid.
Wear a Mouthguard .	To keep your teeth safe.

The Firing of ANZAC Landing

It is 2am on the 25th of April 1915.  I’m in an old boat wondering if I will survive.  I am scared a bullet would go through my head.  We are not able to see anything.  I can smell fear all around me.  I am holding my gun as if I would break it.  I am shaking with fear.  I see a bullet go through the boat.  The Turks started firing at us.  Lots of soldiers are jumping off the boat.  I felt a bullet go through my leg my friends blood was all around me as I fell on to the ground of the boat as I was going to die.

I am learning to write an interesting recount.

I am so proud of making my recount interesting by using similes and adjectives.

It can be tricky to the right adjectives for the right sentence.

The thesaurus can help me by giving me better words.

The next step for me in my learning is to write in paragraphs.

Peace One Day

As part of  our Inquiry work on Peaceful Communities we have been  learning about World Peace Day  on September 21st. On Friday 19th September we held a Taster Shared Lunch with Rooms  19 and 22.   We  had to bring in a small sample of a food that we might eat at home as a family favourite  or a food from our culture.  This helps us to learn about each other’s cultures and about tolerance of others.

Zion's Speech

Today I’m going to give   you three good  reasons  why New Zealand should stop smoking!

A lot of people in the World thinks its cool to smoke. But they should think again.  Smoking  kills a lot of people in the World everyday.

The disgusting smell of smoke can make you and your  kids sick.  Sometimes this second hand smoke can kill them too. I reckon that Shops should stop selling cigarettes then so people can stop dying because of smoking.

Did you know that half of the population of the world smokes?  That is really bad. I think that we should stop smoking and live a better life.  Stopping smoking would stop less  people from dying faster than they need to.

Did you know that some people smoke one pack a day but it is depending what kind of person you are.  That is a lot of money wasted on something that could kill you. The average price of a packet of cigarettes is $14.50.  That means if you smoke a pack a day you will spend more than $5000 a year on cigarettes.

Did you know that around 5,000 New Zealanders die each year from smoking.  That is really bad. Did you also know that over 440,000 people in the U.S.A and over 100,000 people in the U.K die each year because of smoking. If you plan to stop smoking it is never ever too late to.

I hope you agree that all New Zealanders should be encouraged to stop smoking.  So if you think it is cool to smoke  you think about some of my points and that might make you think again.  By Zion
